Baronial Seat-Aibhilin and Declan

·       We spoke to their Majesties at Yule. They haven’t announced a decision on the polling yet.

Seneschal-Drueta

·       Dru could not attend. Sterling ran the meeting as her Deputy.

Exchequer-Katya

·       No report.

Herald-Larry

·       No report.

Knight Marshal-Sterling

·       We have acquired through conversation and some negotiations a place to be able to practice during the winter: Site location: Ultimate Archery (Archery Dodgeball!) — 120 E Kings Hwy Suite 404, Maple Shade, NJ 08052 — Site times: We switched from Sunday afternoons to Tuesday evenings preferring the 1st and 4th Tuesday of the month.  The first Tuesday does overlap with another fencing practice. That first Tuesday will be used to encourage combat archers to come out and practice. The Fourth will have encouragement for the rapier fighters to come out.

o   The site cost 80.00 per use. I am asking for a donation of 5 from those that attend.

o   We have held two practices thus far at the site; one was just a test for us and the owner to see if we could work together. The second was an official practice. We had enough fighters to cover the rent that day.

o   As of this email we are not scheduled till the 27th but will check with the fighters to see if they need or want a practice this week. As well as if it can be afforded.

·       There are several tourneys that are popping up — personally I am happy to hear and see more chances for sword fighters to test their skills.

·       As we close out this year in January the KM position will come available. I have served as your Knight Marshal for quite a number of years. Our charter has certain rules set for time limits. I would ask that IF you are interested in taking care of the Heavy fighters in a marshal role please take a few moments to bounce out to our kingdom page and go through the Marshal Handbook. Make the position yours. We need to have the position filled. I will gladly talk and work with anyone that is up for doing the job. I know that I have been making comments as we have been getting closer but we are now starting to come down to the wire. “An Officer’s first term of Office is defined as two years. Subsequent terms are for one year. Officers must note their intention to serve an additional term no less than one month prior to the end of their current term. Election to an additional term will be dependent upon the Officer passing a majority Vote of Confidence one month before completion of the term or another Candidate presenting himself for consideration one month before the end of the current Officer’s term. To present himself,”

Fence Marshall-Sterling

·       For the official rapier report — Practice area is available, working out the schedule to give more time to practice. There are only so many days in the week and so many areas holding practice.

·       Currently the next practice for Iron Bog will be Dec 27th from 6:30 -9:30.   Fencing tourneys on the horizon — Beast of the East large tourney – Send a note if you are planning on competing (name/auth/exp) –  Birka , K&Q, Mudthaw….

Company Captain of the Archers

Master of the Lists- Hiromasa

·       No change from last time. All documents prepared for the next event. I am getting the lists for the registered cards for both heavy and fencing via email from the kingdom. No other news at this time.

Mistress of A&S-Lorenzo and Katherine

·       No report.

Chatelaine-Alexis

·       Quarterly report submitted on time, Dec 1st.

·       Nothing else to report.

Chamberlain-Diana

·       One change to the Baronial inventory: The Sheet Walls are now at Andre & Genevara’s house  

·       REMINDER:  The Autocrat box & Street Signs are in my garage.

·       No report.

·       No report.

Chancellor of Youth-Fiadhnait

·       I don’t really have much to report for this meeting. There have been no SCA events that I have attended.

·       Master Collin has approached me about running youth activities for the Baronial birthday event in April. I may or may not be available for that event, but I will coordinate with him as to the details. I will ensure that there are youth activities available.

Financial Committee

·       Collin’s bid for the Baronial Birthday and Bardic Championships was approved by the Committee.

Charter Committee

Disbanded until further need arises.

Old business:

Baronial Birthday and Baronial Bardic Champs

·       The Financial Committee approved the Event Bid.

·       The Bid was presented to the meeting, voted on, and approved.

·       Josh will be meeting with Collin, and they will put the event on the EK event calendar.

·       Genevra-The Church has a new reservation form. She completed and submitted the form for the Event.

·       Ian-someone asked him to run the Baronial Bardic Championship. He would like to enter the competition. Declan and Aibhilin will seek out someone else to run the Championship.

Giving of the Bird

·       The Church is reserved for Friday, 1/13 to 6-10. Genevra filled out the reservation form. We will have the lobby, Hayes room, and the Lounge as we typically do.

·       Genevra is waiting to hear back from Jan the Church on the cost but she thinks it will be $150.

·       Katya-we should set up a sign up sheet for food/drinks. Wentlyana set up a Google Sheet, and sent it to the email list.

Beast of the East-Sterling

·       The event is a month away. I am a bit nervous about the turnout; at last count there were only 18 pre regs. However, on the brighter side there are currently 40 combatants that are stating they will be there. The breakdown is 29 heavy and 9 rapier. Update: there are now 50 pre-registrations.

·       I previously had the thought of postponing the event. The only date that we could have moved it to would have been the 11th of March.  Between the low pre-reg and the fact that there are two other events that same day.  The only thing I can think that would be conflicts with postponing are Mudthaw at the end of the month and Gulf wars.

·       In the event we push forward, Please invite those fighters/ fencers that you would like to see compete – nudge them to send in a quick email. That email is just to try to speed up the MOL process.

·       For those of you that wish to help; Areas that can use help — Help with early morning set up, Another person or two to help with Troll, More help with MOL’s — the idea is to have a person watch each of the list record wins losses turn form into MOL table, Marshaling extra eyes for keep people safe is always great.

·       Additional — IF you happen to have a rug/ throw rugs avail that I could borrow please let me know.  I would like to place them on top of the cardboard area to make sure that the camp chairs that we travel with will not leave impressions in the turf.

·       For those that wish to help — The current plan for the day is:

Me getting on site about 7:30 with coffee

8:00 to 9:00 setting up the list —– using the Baronial sheet walls as the list ropes  ——This is an indoor soccer field so it will be hard to decorate but the banners will give color to the floor.

-Setting up will consist of the MOL Table, the Troll Table and 12 lists:  4 list for heavy and 4 list for rapier — 2 extra list for pickups and bear pit both heavy and rapier

-An area will need to be marked as armor bag drop off and a spectator area.  For the spectators area will have to acquire cardboard to place down for those that bring their camp chairs — (throw rugs)

9:30 am – 11  MOL – Inspection — and warm ups

11:30 am – 4:00 (ish) pm The tourney starts

Court:  At the conclusion of the Tourney

5:00 – 6:00 clean up …..

New Business:

Investiture-Larry

·       Larry is putting a bid in with Peach as his Deputy

·       Their Highnesses would like it to be either a K&Q Thrown Weapons or Equestrian.

·       Their Majesties put a message out that they would like the EK Events (which have a 50-50 split Kingdom/Barony) to make a profit.

·       Katya asked about combining both Thrown Weapons and Equestrian.

·       Katya volunteered to cook at the Fairgrounds site.

·       Aibhilin asked what happens with Thrown Weapons if it rains.

·       Katherine-her understanding is that EK law states that the local group has to cover the expenses for the championships. This will be checked, and if so that we will put a limit on their expenses.

·       Discussed date options and conflicts in the end of May and June.

·       Voted on going forward with a K&Q event with Investiture, including doing both Equestrian and Thrown Weapons. Larry will put a bid together, and will aim for the weekend of June 10th…but will see when the site is available and when their Highnesses are available.

Ian-has been asked to put on another EK College of Performers

·       They are looking to do it in April/May. Ian has a cook already.

·       We discussed that the Barony is already stressed too thin. We suggested that we may be able to do it in the fall.
