• This Saturday is Buckland Cross’ 12th Night and Investiture. We will be there, and will be putting together largesse as a gift. Thank you to Sabina and Aibhilin for gifts. Aaron the Swift, our former Champion and current Captain of the Guard, will be elevated to the Order of the Chivalry.

• Following Sunday is Giving of the Bird. We hope to see everyone there. There will be food, gifts, and stealing gifts.

• The next Investiture is IDD; we will not be able to attend.

• Mudthaw has a date(3/23) and site. Our own Lady Katya will be getting a well-deserved elevation to the Order of the Pelican.

Seneschal-Elizabeth

•

Exchequer-Katya

• Nothing to report

Herald-Larry

• Nothing heraldic happened in the Barony last month.

Knight Marshal-Sterling

• Just a quick note to say we did have a practice on Dec 31st — The weather was decent enough to be at the park. It was a very well-attended practice.

• We currently have three new rapier swords people — One is auth already and the other two will be soon -very soon … looking forward to seeing their growth.

• We have one new heavy fighter who will be joining us once we get going again.

• We are still looking for a place to practice inside away from the elements. Personally not a fan of the cold.   * Note if you are good with Google fu and which to help I am searching for warehouses that might have a space to rent. I am using my Google Fu but an extra set of eyes would be nice. — Wishing to help please drop me a note off the list.

• Sites — there was a site look at that could work — It is located in Mt Holly…. not too far from the hospital.  We are waiting to hear the rent price. The location could in theory be an all-in-one.

• Downside —

o Rapier fighters would have needed to be in sock-covered footwear.

o Heavy fighters might be a bit crapped

o Sunday is the best day — (Rapier fighter’s attendance is very low to nil)

o Directions are a bit challenging

o Mt. Holly

• Upside —

o Thrown weapons

o Working on being able to shoot archery

o Working on being able to set up a blacksmith area

o Could be a meeting place

• January Events — Need to get your competition?

o January 20-https://owlsherst.eastkingdom.org/owlsherst-country-12th-night/

o January 27-Birka  https://birka.eastkingdom.org/

Fence Marshall-Larry

• Last week, I attended the Bhakail Wednesday night rapier practice in Media, PA.  The practice was well attended with about 20 fencers from the area. The site is large enough for outdoor melee practice in the spring and summer.  I recommend that fencers should attend the Bhakail practice on Wednesday nights between 7:30pm and 9:30pm.

• Below is the address for the practice:

Reformation Lutheran Church, 102 W Rose Tree Rd, Media, PA 19063. It’s only about a mile away from the Route 1 Exit off of I-476 in Delaware County, PA. This is about 15 minutes from the Commodore Barry Bridge.

• I have an official SCA e-mail for Iron Bog Website: 23974@members.eastkingdom.org

• Still working on finding a new sight. He was contacted by Owlsheart to possibly do it there; they have a Church site. Genevra is waiting to hear about Gateway High School. The Woodbury Heights Community Center is now only renting for athletic events. Looking into the (Investiture) Dreamwork site. The 4-H Fairground was also suggested.

• There’s a small kitchenette with space for Crock pots. Bring your food cooked/prepared. Genevra and Andre have paper plates, napkins, utensils. Katya has extra table cloths and supplies.

• Gift exchange $25 limit; please bring something that other Scadians would enjoy (no gag gifts please); not mandatory to participate.

• If the weather is good, fighting and fencing is possible.

• He will sent it Genevra and Andre’s, and give her the final cost.

Discord-Sabina

• A survey went out to get the feeling for whether or not folks are interested in the Barony having a Discord channel.

• Please fill it out

New Business:

Potential new practice site-Sterling

• We have heard back from Ryan — he is willing to let us use the place for 150. Per session at 4 hrs. (37.50 per hour)

• I have created a poll on the Practice page on Facebook … trying to gage an idea. One thought is to only have two session per month.

• PRO’s

o A winter site

o A site that could to lead to more

o Thrown weapon practice

o Possible future archery

o Room for A&S

o Future place for blacksmithing

• CON’s

o Location

o Shared area to practice may be a little tight

o This is a business so we would truly need to work in their schedule

o Paid site people attending to balance out the output

• Sub note — idea future idea — If later on down the road we could do a version of the “Maybe” event or a demo of some sort — please note this was just food for thought. It could help the business and us as a whole.

• Sterling would need to know who’s coming, and what they are coming to do so he can arrange the space accordingly, and would be setting up weekly polling. Genevra asked for the polling to also be placed on the main IB FB page. Aibhilin also asked that it go on the official IB email.

• Discussed giving it a try, and see how it works; starting on 2/4. Voted and approved.

May-be-Genevra

• With BOE in May, we can’t have a 2nd event in May.

• Could we open BOE to other activities? Sterling would not like to have Champions at BOE.

• Maybe was our big draw following GeekFest.

• Do we want to have a smaller Champion event?

• Aibhilin-suggested hosting a May-Be/Baronial Champions Commons in June, and will put a bid together.

Cooks and Scribal Guilds

• Genevra suggested having Guild get-togethers on the alternate weeks from the new Practice site.

• Next date: 2/11 2:00 at Katherine’s house.

River Wars-Elizabeth

• We have received the new contract for the traditional site, we just need someone to run the event. Collin does not want to run it.

• Valery suggested we put out a request, and see if someone is interested.

• Are we good with committing to the site and date without an event steward-no

• Genevra-would love to (eventually) find another site for it. Sterling suggested Camp Dark Water in Medford. Balthazar suggested Camp Ockanickon.

• Decided that a message will go out on the email list to see if someone is interested in running River Wars. Aibhilin is interested in being a Deputy Autocrat or Co-Autocrat.

Pennsic-Valery

• Creature registered IB camp.

• Before you register let Creature know, and then let Valery know. (Register with Iron Bog, NOT Barony of Iron Bog).

• We probably have enough room, if any other IB people would like to camp there.

• There is an email list for the Camp; let Valery or Genevra know if you’d like to be added to the list.

Motion made to adjourn and seconded.
