Their Excellencies, Baron Andre and Baroness Genevra, are delighted to to announce the return of May-Be (I’ll Try Something New), and are inviting all good gentles to the Barony’s May Day (in July this year) in order to try something new.  A variety of Arts & Sciences and Martial activities will available to explore .  There will be archery, combat archery, rapier, rattan, siege, and thrown weapons, all with loaner gear, for folks to try.  We currently have classes in Calligraphy, Illumination, Kumihimo, Making a Bycock, Early European Dance, Archaeology & Woodworking of Siege Weapons, Making Practice Not Boring, and Glass Bead Making.  We welcome additional Artisans who would like to demonstrate and teach as part of this special day, please contact the Event Steward, Baroness Aibhilin inghean Ui Phaidin (see below).

We will also have Youth Activities throughout the day with Baroness Roseia Posey.

The Barony will be holding a Raffle Auction with a variety of donated items.  Please bring cash to participate.

The excitement of the day will be further expanded by the Barony’s Rapier and Rattan Tournaments being held to decide the next Baronial Champions.  Their Excellencies are opening the tournaments to anyone residing in the Southern Region.

Rapier Tournament Format:
A 5-Round Swiss Tournament that would be followed by a double elimination tournament

Rattan Tournament Format:
we will have a bear pit for 30-45 mins, who ever has the most points advances to the next part of the tournament which is a tally tournament.  Tally’s Tip Tournament.  The rules are fairly simple.  You will have a number of lives equivalent to the highest ranking award you have.

4 lives = No Awards
3 lives = Silver Tyger or Equivalent
2 lives = OTC or Equivalent
1 life = Knight

These lives will be kept track via popsicle sticks.  The fighters will be paired via their popsicle sticks and as the tournament progresses the loser of each bout will lose one of their popsicle sticks.  Run out of popsicle sticks and you are out.  The fights will continue until we have a winner.

To ease the financial burden on those interested in attending, Their Excellencies have proclaimed that there will not be a site fee.  In lieu of a dayboard the Barony will have pot luck lunch.
