Greetings to the people of the East and our neighbors. The Barony of Iron Bog is excited to be hosting River War XIII on Saturday September 27th. It will be full day of activities including Archery, Combat Archery, Equestrian, Rapier, Rattan, Thrown Weapons, and more. The Barony is looking forward to hosting an Artisan’s Village where Artisans of different disciplines and levels can gather, share their work, and/or teach others. Artisans interested in teaching, demonstrating or having space to gather can contact the Event Steward. We will also have activities planned for Youth of different ages.
In addition, Their Excellencies Iron Bog, Andre and Genevra, will be holding competitions to determine their new Archery, Arts & Sciences, Equestrian, and Thrown Weapons Baronial Champions. The formats for the competitions will be coming soon.

In the spirit of creation and discovery, let it Cook celebrate the journey of Arts & Science from the first spark of inspiration to their final presentation. Too often, audiences only see the polished results, but the true heart of the work lies in the process. The planning, the trials, the adjustments, and the perseverance that lead to the end result. This prompt shines a light on that full arc, honoring not only what is made but also how it is made.
Participants are invited to share their projects, showing early sketches, raw materials, experiments, and prototypes that transform into finished works. By witnessing the full story, the community gains a deeper appreciation of the skills, creativity, and dedication involved. 1 bonus point is given for sharing the process, and a second for explaining a lesson you had learned along the way of creating your A&S piece.

We are still working on the fencing scenarios but rest assured that fighting will happen and that any senario that requires teams will be decided day of, so there no need to start making faces at our friends across the river. Next year is slated to go back to the original idea of a war across the river, but this year will not require a formal choosing of sides or building of coalitions. Any questions or suggestions for formats let me know!

Rattan Battle Melee Drill Scenarios-MIC-Syr Sterling de la Rosa
Overview
This is a call to all heavy weapon fighters, combat archers, and siege crews! Join us for a test of skill and strategy in a series of challenging battle scenarios. We would prefer to set the Teams to be randomly assigned as attackers or defenders, with balanced sides. The goal? Bragging rights, Fun, and lots of action.
Battle Scenarios:
1. Field Battle
Objective: Defenders protect a flag at their end of the field.
Resurrections: Attackers have unlimited. Defenders have 5.
Rules:
The battle continues until the attackers either capture the flag or kill all defenders.
Combat archery is allowed.
Siege weapons can be used, but shields don’t block them.
If an enemy reaches a siege weapon, it’s destroyed and can no longer be used.
If an enemy archer shoots a siege crew member, they’re out and must respawn.
Outcome: If the attackers win, they move on to the bridge battle.
2. Bridge Battle
Objective: Fight on a bridge that’s one spear length wide and three long.
Resurrections: None.
Rules:
No respawns—last team standing wins.
Combat archery and siege weapons are allowed. Shields block archery but not siege attacks.
If a siege weapon is reached by an enemy soldier, it’s destroyed.
If an archer hits a siege crew member, they’re out.
Outcome: If the defenders win, the battle moves to a second field battle. If the attackers win, it’s on to the gate battle.
3. Gate Battle
Objective: Attackers aim to breach the gate and capture the flag inside.
Resurrections: Attackers have 5. Defenders have unlimited.
Rules:
The battle ends when the defender’s flag is captured or all attackers are dead.
Combat archery is allowed. Attackers must be positioned behind their army to shoot at the gate.
Siege weapons must hit three targets beyond the gate before it opens.
If a siege weapon is reached by an enemy, it’s destroyed.
If an archer hits a siege crew member, they’re out and must respawn.
Outcome: If attackers win, the war ends with their victory. If defenders win, a second bridge battle is fought.
***IF a Second Field Battle is fought***
Objective: Fought under the same rules as the first field battle.
Resurrections: Both sides are limited to 5.
Rules: The battle continues until the flag is captured or all players are dead.
Outcome:
If the defenders win, the scenario ends, and they are victorious.
If the attackers win, a second bridge battle is fought.
